Being free range is not just for domestic animals. It's crucial for kids, elderly and everyone in between. Spending lots of time outdoors, visiting friends and neighbours, having people of all generations talking to each other face to face... It is sad that many elderly people waste their last years in front of a tv, rather than telling children their stories and life lessons, helping with cooking or gardening. It is sad that the rest of us glued to our screens so much too. I used to dream about joining or creating some friendly intentional community, (eco)village of some sorts. Now I think there's a risk of ending up in a totalitarian cult because those communities are so separated from the rest of the world. Rather our view of every day normal life has to change if we want to be physically and mentally healthy. No animal evolved in a cage, in solitary confinement, neither did humans.
