Ophelia is a pre-Raphaelite literary artwork by English painter John William Waterhouse created in 1894. She is a young Noblewoman from Denmark in Shakespeare's play, Hamlet. She wanted Hamlet to be the love of her life but it didn't turn out that way. She died in a brook one day and no one knew if it was accidental or on purpose. Pre-Raphaelite artists often painted bright colors and realistic female figures with detailed clothing combined with the scenic beauty of nature giving the painting a romantic style.
