A depiction of the Battle of the Myeongnyang Straits, in which legendary Admiral Yi Sunsin defeated the Japanese armada of over one hundred ships with Korean navy's thirteen ships (there is debate over whether the thirteen were panokseon, or geobukseon). This illustration is from THE TURTLE SHIP, a picture book written by Helena Ku Rhee and illustrated by Colleen Kong-Savage (Lee & Low Books), 2018 Freeman Honor recipient and among Bank Street's 2019 List of Best Children's Books.
