Ludendorff Bridge the bridgehead towers on the east bank of the Rhine, the remains of the former railroad bridge connecting the villages of Remagen and Erpel, it was the only remaining bridge which led over the Rhine River. On March 7, 1945, American troops crossed and captured the bridge. The unexpected capture of the Ludendorff Bridge over the Rhine is known in WW II history as "The wonder of Remagen", an important strategic event shortened the World War 2 in Europe, a noted and historical place.
