The Spix's Macaw or Ararinha Azul as he's known in Brazil, was last seen in the wild in the year 2000. Approximately 85 exist in captivity today. This beautiful bird's habitat is northeastern Bahia, near the town of Curaçá. There is much hope and planning to bring this species home in the future.
