St. Clare of Assisi, inspired by St. Francis of Assisi, founded the order of the Poor Clares. While sick and suffering from failing vision, she protected her sisters by praying at the convent wall with the Blessed Sacrament. The attackers saw a bright light that scared them and they retreated. She is the patron saint of eye disease, goldsmiths and television.
