BURKE IDAHO GHOST TOWN POSTER
- from our Affiliates
Historic photo of Burke, Idaho mining boom town taken around the end of the 19th century. The town was situated in a deep, narrow canyon barely 100 yards in width. Therefore, trains ran right down the main street and through the lobby of the Tiger Hotel. Canyon Creek aslo ran through the lobby of the hotel. Merchants said if they did not retract the awnings .... a passing train would rip them from the building. All that is left is some mining facilities and a few derelict buildings here and there in the area of the town.
