Skinners Saloon __ Bannack Ghost Town Montana Poster Affiliate icon

Cyrus Skinner moved this saloon from Yankee Flats outside of town to a location on Main Street in the spring of 1863. Bannack was a blazing gold boom town at that time and Skinner's Saloon was the place to gamble, drink, dance, and listen to music. Several gun fights and murders occurred in and around the saloon. Skinner's was reputed to be the hangout of various outlaws and road agents who plyed the roads into and out of Bannack. They are believed to have killed over 100 people in their pursuit of gold and anything else of worth. In fact, the Saloon owner, Cyrus Skinner, was tracked down and hung near Missoula, Montana for his suspected role as a spy for the road agents, pointing out men who were leaving town with money. Bannack is a state park and completely devoid of people, living ones that is. It is one of the finest preserved ghost towns in America.
