Antiqued Victorian Hibiscus Paper Plates
- from our Affiliates
Britain's imperial ambitions during Queen Victoria's reign sparked an interest in the exotic flowers found in the South Sea Islands, India, and South America, which artists of the day were quick to adopt these species into their work. The image of a burgundy Hibiscus against a tea-stained backdrop on this paper plate was adapted from such a painting found on an old fabric remnant.
