Emile-Allain Séguy was a popular French designer throughout the Art Deco and Art Nouveau movements of the 1920s. Each plate represents an effort of the artist to connect nature with the arts. An accomplished entomologist, furthermore, an artist of Pochoir. His work today, is revered by the world for his unusual style and compositions. The Parisian Art Deco plates are dramatic and timeless. The depictions of butterflies in the illustration are remarkably detailed, revealing Séguy's unique interest in the scientific study of insects as a source of inspiration for artistic creation.
