A famous quote by Albert Schweitzer - "There are two means of refuge from the miseries of life - music and cats". A frisky black cat in a white renaissance collar plays the banjo on a gradient green background. You can change size of this 24"x18" poster but watch out for changing the proportions as bits will be cropped. Albert Schweitzer is a polymath from Alsace, which traded hands between France and Germany. At the time of his birth in 1875, it was recently part of the German Empire (1871 - 1918), and by the time he died in the mid-1900s it was once more part of France. He had dual German French citizenship. Schweitzer's major fields were medicine, musicology, philosophy and theology. He won several awards including the Goethe prize and the Nobel Peace Prize. The keynote of Schweitzer's personal philosophy was the idea of Reverence for Life ("Ehrfurcht vor dem Leben"). He thought Western civilization was decaying because it had abandoned affirmation of life as its ethical foundation. This is a great idea for cat lovers, music lovers, or an insightful life quote. Schweitzer had two cats, “Sizi” and “Piccolo.” They liked to sleep in the middle of his desk and if someone needed some papers, “they were required to wait until the cats woke up.”
