Mountain laurel (Kalmia latifolia) is Pennsylvania's and Connecticut's official state flower. Mountain laurel is also called ivybush, calico bush, sheep laurel, lambkill, clamoun, and spoonwood. It is one of the most beautiful of native American shrubs, with its fragrant star-shaped white and pink flowers. Photo by Christine Schmidt
