The flag of Greece shows here in nine blue and white alternating stripes. To represent Eastern Orthodox Christianity, there is a cross in the upper right side (hoist side). A perfect way to share your love of all things Greek on Oxi Day or anytime. The image here takes up the entire design space, using a bit of artistic license to make the flag look its best on each item. The flag was officially adopted as a symbol of Greece on January 13, 1822 at the First National Assembly at Epidaurus. Traditional legends say the stripes represent the number of syllables (nine) in the Greek words for FREEDOM OR DEATH. Others say they represent the letters in the Greek word for FREEDOM. Others suggest that each stripe represents one of the nine Muses of mythology. The blue and white colors are suggested to represent the colors of the Greek sea and sky. Either way, it makes for a beautiful flag that will always look nice anywhere you take it.
