The design on this product is inspired by Rose and Lily, a stunning William Morris (1834 – 1896) furnishing pattern dating back to 1893. The pattern was designed by, Morris’ assistant, John Henry Dearle a British textile and stained glass designer trained by Morris. Morris was an English textile designer, poet novelist, translator, and social activist and was a major contributor to the revival of traditional British textile arts and methods of production – He was greatly influenced by the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. Much of his work can be found in art galleries and museums and his designs are still in production. Although best known in his lifetime as a poet, Morris is recognized as one of the most significant cultural figures of Victorian Britain.
