Scottish Independence Declaration of Arbroath Mug Affiliate icon

This mug for Scottish independence supporters features a photograph of a fragment of the Declaration of Arbroath - a declaration of Scottish independence - written in Latin and signed on April 6th, 1320, at Arbroath Abbey, six years after Robert the Bruce defeated the English at Bannockburn in 1314. The most quoted excerpt is: 'For as long as but a hundred of us remain alive, never will we on any conditions be brought under English rule. It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honors that we are fighting, but for freedom - for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.' At the base of the ancient parchment are wax seals of the signatories.
