Glucose induces insulin secretion in beta cells poster Affiliate icon

Signaling pathway of glucose in pancreatic beta cells: increased levels of glucose in the blood lead to increased glucose uptake by pancreatic beta cells, glucose metabolism produces more ATP and makes the ATP/ADP ratio go up, this in turn leads to closing of the ATP-sensitive potassium channel and depolarization of the cell, cell depolarization then triggers opening of voltage-gated calcium channels which leads to insulin secretion. Labeled diagram. Scientifically accurate. Great for school science (biology) lab, doctor offices, clinic, hospital,... for educational purposes. Vector file scalable to any size without losing resolution. Check out my store for more medical illustration, both serious and fun stuffs. All images are made by myself, a scientist.
