This is San Jose CA: John Carlos Greeting Card Description

John Carlos, along with Thomas C. Smith , is the celebrated track 1968 Olympian, representing the USA who on the award podium gave the Black Power Fist in recognition and support of civil rights struggles. Although at the time, he and Tommie Smith were accused to politicizing the Olympics, his protest on the awards podium over time has become much respected. John Carlos and Tommie Smith both were athletes at San Jose State University, and the campus has honored them with capturing the moment in history with a mosaic statue on its campus. This particular image is a black and white close up of Carlos, taken on a visit to the San Jose State University campus.
