Canary Islands Flag (Canaries) (Canarias, Spain)
This design features the flag of the Canary Islands (known informally as the Canaries), which is a Spanish archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean. At their closest point to the African mainland, the Canary Islands are just over 50 miles west of Morocco. They are the southernmost of the autonomous communities of Spain. The Canary Islands are known in Spanish as "Canarias". The eight main islands are (from largest to smallest in size) Tenerife, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro and La Graciosa. The Canary Islands (especially Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote) are a major tourist destination, with over 12 million visitors per year: this is largely because of their beautiful beaches, subtropical climate and important natural attractions.
