Look closely and you'll notice downtown buildings and several mills that are still standing today. Smokestacks pay tribute to Bennington's past as a manufacturing powerhouse. Manufacturers on the vintage 1887 Bennington map include Bennington Woolen Mills, Enos Adams' Machine Works, Putnam's Novelty Works, Tiffany Bros.' Knitting Mills, Bennington Full Fashioned Knitting Mill, Cooper's Machine Shop, Edward Norton & Co.'s Pottery, Stark Knitting Co.'s Mills, G. Rockwood & Co.'s Knitting Mills, and H. E. Bradford & Co.'s Knitting Mills. Bennington houses of worship such as the Baptist Church, Congregational Church, Methodist Church, Episcopal Church, and French Roman Catholic Church can be seen on the vintage map. Bennington's old train stations were still in use, named "New York, Rutland & Montreal Rail Road Station" and "Bennington & Rutland Rail Road Station" on the map.
