The gorgeous blue iris blooms from the Impressionist master Vincent Van Gogh's Impressionism painting of the botanical blue Irises garden are added to the magnificent spiral notebook depicting "Irises" from 1889. The grace and timeless beauty of this beautiful Van Gogh Irises flowery writing line paper notepad are palpable. In the final year before his death in 1890, while a patient at the Saint Paul-de-Mausole institution in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, France, Vincent van Gogh created several pieces with iris themes, most notably Irises. In May 1889, less than a month after he checked himself into the asylum, Van Gogh started painting iris in the hospital garden. The natural world influenced him. In comparison to his subsequent works, the tension in this composition is not as strong. He called it "the lightning conductor for my insanity" because he thought he could keep painting and save himself from going nuts. Strong shapes, unusual angles, close-up views, and flat local color create parallels that are inspired by Japanese Ukiyo-e woodblock prints (not modeled according to the fall of light). The entire picture exudes a sense of gentleness and lightness. The iris are lively and brilliant when there is no gloom.
