Irises 1889 Vincent Van Gogh blue floral garden Poster Affiliate icon

The beautiful Van Gogh Irises (1889) fine art print poster showcases the maestro of Post-Impressionism Van Gogh's well-known rendering of the breathtaking blue iris flower garden. While receiving treatment at the Saint Paul-de-Mausole institution in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, France, in the year before his death in 1890, Vincent van Gogh created several works with iris themes, most notably Irises. Van Gogh started painting iris in the hospital garden less than a month after he checked himself into the asylum, in May 1889. He was affected by the surroundings. This piece doesn't have as much intensity as some of his later works. He called it "the lightning conductor for my craziness" because he believed he could continue painting while keeping himself from going insane. Strong shapes, strange angles, close-up views, and flat local color evoke the Japanese Ukiyo-e woodblock prints that served as inspiration (not modeled according to the fall of light). The whole picture has an air of softness and lightness. Irises are lively and active when there is no melancholy. The Irises (1889), an antique work of art by Vincent Van Gogh, looks wonderful on this art poster, which you can hang in your dining room, bedroom, or even hallway as wall decor.
