The Mackinac Bridge is currently the 5th longest suspension bridge in the world and the longest in the western hemisphere. It is approximately 5 miles in length. Opened in 1957, it connects the Upper and Lower Peninsula of Michigan and is the dividing line between Lake Huron (east side) and Lake Michigan (west side).
