Burning Eiffel Tower Poster

This amazing image of the Eiffel Tower wrapped in flames was used on a French trade card used to peddle elixirs during Victorian times. The landmark was built for the Paris World's Fair in 1889. I went searching for information on this dramatic event and could find very little. Perhaps the artist of the trade card had a very vivid imagination. The dominant illustration shows very vivid colors and powerful contrast. It is an image that is difficult to ignore.
