Vintage postcard illustrated by the Tichnor Brothers in the 1930s-40s, of Tybee Island's historic DeSoto Beach Hotel as it was. History tells us it was built in 1939, as the "Hotel DeSoto Beach Club" for a wealthier society. Booking this hotel came with unheard of amenities at that time, like en suite bathrooms and air conditioning. The hotel boasts of magnificent red Spanish tile roof and palm-lined gardens, and it was a landmark for the whole Southern coast. This picture depicts families enjoying the beach with the hotel in the background.
