Cluny Castle at Laggan, near Newtonmore, was the hereditary home of the Macpherson clan chiefs until 1932. The "P" is NOT capitalized because "pherson" means "parson" and is not a proper name. One of the most famous of the Macpherson clan, and resident of Cluny Castle at the time of the Battle of Culloden, was featured in Robert Louis Stevenson's "Kidnapped."
