Vintage Louis Wain Gentleman Cat in Fur Coat Card
This fun card for cat lovers and cat owners features the wonderful, whimsical world of famous English cat artist Louis Wain. The illustration shows a very posh looking gentleman cat wearing a top hat, gloves and rather magnificent fur trimmed coat. He has a long stemmed pipe under one arm. The drawing is part of a larger canvas showing a cats' Christmas party in full swing. This handsome tom cat is modelling his new Christmas outfit. The artwork was commissioned by the Detroit Publishing Company for publication in Leslie's Weekly in December 1906. Originally in black and white, I've added a touch of color to the fur and yellow to the cat's eyes. The card would be perfect for admirers of Louis Wain and fans of vintage cat art and would suit most occasions including birthdays, Christmas or just to say hi.
