Art Print Crisp Point Lighthouse

This painting is of the Crisp Point Lighthouse. The building was one of five U.S. Life-Saving Service Stations. Its location is on the coast of Lake Superior between Munising and Whitefish Point in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I lived by Lake Michigan for three years and I often watched the sun going down over the massive body of water. In this painting I emphasized how the last light braking through the clouds is reflected in the waves rolling onto the beach. I used a mixture of warm and cool colors to create the atmosphere of the crisp air of an oncoming evening. The scene transform the viewer to the edge of the lake to watch the sunset on the food of the Crisp point lighthouse.
