Migrants from olde Prussia first came to Australia in very large numbers back in 1838 and mostly to South Australia and parts of Victoria. Successive German migrants came to the great southern land ever since despite the interruption of two world wars which saw Australia siding with Britain whom on both occasions declared wars on Germany. As hard working migrants the German Australians have made a significant contribution to the Australia we have today. A famous region settled by German speaking migrants is the Barossa Valley in South Australia a famous wine making success story.
